Meeting Invite – Thursday May 26th, 2022

Please join us Thursday May 26th for our monthly Sudbury Writers’ Guild Meeting. This meeting will be hosted both in person and via Zoom .

The Zoom room will open at 6pm and the meeting gets underway at 6:30 PM. If you need a link to the meeting please message us here or on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/sudburywritersguild

If you are planning on attending in person, we are meeting at College Boreal in room M3340 on the 3rd Floor. (See Floor Plans here – https://www.collegeboreal.ca/en/our-campuses/our-locations/sudbury?t=campus-maps)

Please be aware that College Boreal was still requiring that all visitors mask and be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 when we attended last month. If you have questions about the College’s COVID-19 policies, please contact them directly.

Our general meeting guest speaker roster for the 2021-2022 season wraps up this month when we will be exploring the topic of the Art of Book Cover Design featuring:

Val Fullard who was born in Toronto in 1948, and spent her childhood in the frozen wastes of Etobicoke before moving downtown to attend OCA (now OCADU) in 1968.

As a graphic artist she has worked in advertising, publishing, and packaging, and beginning in 2002 taught typography in the York University Design Department. She has also published a number of typefaces through Font Shop International.

Val is the recipient of several awards for her cover designs, including the Miramichi Reader’s Best Cover Design for La Brigantessa, by Roseanna Micelotta Battigelli, who also won for Best Novel.

She currently lives in Kingston, ON.
