Welcome to the Sudbury Writers’ Guild Book Club, a book club open to both Guild members and the public, where writers deconstruct, analyze and rejoice in the art of writing. Each year the Writers’ Guild will pick a book from one of their favorite authors to read and then study the art of writing.
We discuss topics such as opening lines, ending a chapter, character and story arcs, and the author’s use of language, plot, style and narrative. Most of all we debate our likes and dislikes of the story with the intent of becoming better writers.
This year is the Guilds first year for the book club and we decided on a northern Ontario theme. Members send in their requests and the books will be voted on. The winner is to be announced at our September meeting then shared on Facebook. There is still time to vote so please click here to go to a Google poll to vote on your first and second choice.

Once the book is chosen a member of the guild champions the book, and with the help of other members, hosts the discussion at our February meeting. This is an open meeting for anyone who has read the book and would like to attend and join in the discussion.
The Guild hopes, by involving readers and writers alike, we can all learn more about our favorite books and authors. So please pick up a book, read it, think about it and come and discuss it with us.
